Three months after losing our first horse we started looking for our next family member. I visited the race track a few times to have a look at some of the horses that were finishing their racing careers and I was shown this lovely gentle mare. One of the vets happend to be passing by at the time so I asked him to check her out. Well...he went to lift her foot...and she reared from the pain...her knees were gone. She'd never be able to do much more than breed or hack. We wanted a horse that could more than that. I felt very sad for her as she was lovely and I hope she is somewhere safe and being cared for.
Back to Whisper. My eldest daughter had a dream that we found a bay horse with a star (marking in the middle of the forehead). The next morning my farrier called me about a horse that was coming into retirement and if I could come with him that day to see him so I did. My farrier showed me a horse. A bay. With a star. I simply asked is he sound? Let me see him and that was it he was loaded that afternoon and became part of our family. The reason behind his name change? Well Sophia said it best: "it's like he whispered to me in my dream.'
Things were challenging. Whisper was scared, anxious and stressed. We were making slow progress with him, but still it was progress and then disaster struck again. The riding school that we had been at for eight years was closing down. I'll leave it here. Take care x
